Hosted by Practical Marketing Solutions, the marketing RxPo was designed to give business owners free advice on advertising their businesses. About 20 different marketing companies had informational booths at the event.
“We’ve heard how much you’re supposed to spend and how much to spend in different areas, so I think this gave them some thoughts on how to spend those dollars,” said Julie Holbrook, co-owner of Practical Marketing Solutions.
A panel of seven marketing experts took questions submitted by participants, some of whom came from Norman and Tulsa.
Holbrook said she hopes to repeat the expo, perhaps quarterly.
“Honestly, it’s been one of the better events that I’ve attended. The questions I got from the people that attended the RxPo were very good,” said Tanner Johnson of Norman, chief executive officer of webeprint.com
“I had people that were very engaged in what I was talking about, so I think it’s been a very successful event,” said Johnson, who operated a booth at the event.

One Successful Butler

By Peter Biadasz
Southern Plains Bureau Chief
(Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico)

The greatest benefit of this job is interviewing the “movers and shakers” within the networking industry. I am honored to introduce someone to you whom I have had not only the honor of watching since 2001 grow into a master networker, but also have enjoyed observing him teach networking to others, who have carried on the tradition by also teaching others the art/science of networkering. And by teaching I do not just mean talking the talk, but also by example; walking the walk.

Let me introduce to you Michael D. Butler – networker, business owner, marathon runner and father. I guess he sleeps occasionally too, as time permits. You can find him in meetings of varying sizes, on YouTube; and onstage as a master presenter as well as in the audience. Michael is very active.

I recently visited with him to learn his networking and business philosophies. His analogy to business and networking is that “networking is like a big mall. Your network is under one roof; easily assessable and growing all the time. You may have to park and walk on occasion, but convenience is the key. As we need to access the businesses in the mall to meet the needs of others or our own, they are right at our fingertips”. I think we all like going to the mall. Now we know we all have our own mall.

Michael has over 1000 people under him in 5 nations within his Xango Business. As a Gold Star Networking Group Director he has about 150 networkers he is responsible for maturing into master networkers. “Gold Star has helped me to greatly sharpen my networking skills. I firmly believe that as people’s networking skills are sharpened they will make more money”.

According to Michael, key attributes of a networker include that others know, like and trust you. In addition, he finds a fulfillment in introducing others to make those vital business and personal connections. He is a team player who believes strongly in personal branding.

Michael knows that as networkers we all are evolving and spends much time as a mentor and coach to aid others in the evolution process. He recently relayed a story to me of a networker who went from having much trouble in delivering their 60 second commercial in their networking group to making a full and fulfilling 10 minute presentation to the same group. Watching others grow and mature like this gives Michael great joy.

As a result of networking Michael has been asked to be a part of an online Viral Marketing Experiment which can be seen at www.180DaysToGreatness.com. Additional information about Michael can be obtained on his blog at www.MichaelDButler.wordpress.com. His other networking related references include www.GoldStarClubs.com and www.NetworkingForGold.com. And then there is the Online Reality show at www.YouTube.com/GlimpseRealitydotcom. Enjoy and learn much from this one very successful Butler!

SUPER-SIZED, DOWN-SIZED, AND GLOBALIZED

By Michael · October 8, 2008 · Filed in Uncategorized · No Comments »

The Changing Face of America’s Workplace.

Michael Butler, Business Coach and member of the

Infamous “Master-Mind Experiment”

www.180DaysToGreatness.com

America’s workplace has changed. My grand-dad was a dairy farmer and my dad worked for corporate America. People my age (Gen-X’ers) will change careers six times. Corporate America has down-sized and Small Business is now Big Business! We are in the middle of a Home-Based Business Boom with 50,000 new Home-Based Businesses (HBB’S) Starting weekly according to www.entrereneurmag.com People who once looked down their noses at those who worked from home, now, envy those who Tele-Commute.

Several Key Factors to Look for when Choosing a HBB:

  1. Find a Reputable Company with proven leadership. Whether you are starting a traditional business, buying a franchise or joining a Network Marketing Company; a company is only as good as its leaders. Do your homework, ask questions, and investigate. A company can ultimately only be as good as the folks at the top.
  2. Is it the Right Industry? Servicing typewriters is out. Servicing retiring Baby Boomers is IN and will be IN for a LONG TIME! The fastest growing segment of the population is those over 100! Companies that service this demographic will be in business for a LONG time. Try to capitalize on the FRONT END of trends for maximum profitability. www.NextTrillion.com
  3. Check with a Qualified Tax Professional. Not every CPA knows HBB Tax Law. Laws passed by Congress give HBB the best tax breaks. But if your CPA is clueless you will not benefit.
  4. Go Global. In his book: “The World is Flat” Thomas Friedman points out that with the advent of Globalization; the world is a level playing field. The average Jane/Joe can now do a better job, many times, than the big guys. Start a company that is either Global in scope or can go global with minimal effort. Is the product/service reusable? Is the product/service border friendly?
  5. Infrastructure. In their new book: “Why We Want You to be Rich” Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki talk about leverage. Smart people LEVERAGE themselves for maximum profitability. America’s first billionaire, J. Paul Getty said: “I’d rather have 1% of 100 people’s efforts than 100% of my own. Kiyosaki says: “Successful people look for and build Networks everyone else just looks for work.” Whether it’s a franchise, HBB, or traditional business; ask yourself: “Is the infra-structure and Net Work in place to sustain long term growth and expansion? This is why Infra-structure is sandwiched between: Going Global and the Internet.
  6. Use the Internet. Don’t fear it, use it. You don’t have to be a “nerd” to “cash-in” on this trend that has only just begun. Get on Facebook, Linked-In, My Space, Twitter, Blogger, and Word Press. Start blogging. Let people find you and use your help as the expert you are.

We are no longer in the Agrarian age or the Industrial Age. Time is moving and CHANGE is the only constant. Find something you are passionate about, plug into a success system, and let’s have fun, help people, and make a lot of money!
